WHY I (Steven X) CREATED SPINNERETS

“I created Spinnerets because I love levitation magic. I wanted something that I could get in and out of quickly. I wanted more control. I wanted the gimmick to feel like it was a part of me; always ready on my command. I was also very irritated with the problems that come along with thread work. So, I aimed to solve all those problems. I wanted something versatile that could be used for a variety of different hook ups. I wanted something that wasn't limited to certain functions. I felt restricted, walking around like a marionette, attached to a string all the time. I was always afraid it would break before performance. So I developed methods that require no prior hook up. I also wanted something to bail me out; something I could spin right under the spectator's nose. Nothing to hide or ditch. A lot of thread workers are afraid to start out their performance with a levitation effect. They're afraid someone will ask them to do it again, and they will be caught unprepared.
