Rex Ignis is finally back!

Imagine stepping up to a table in a restaurant, picking up the candle placed on it, and setting it in front of you. You tell your audience that it is possible to focus the mind so intensely that you no longer even feel the heat of a candle flame. To demonstrate this, you first ask a spectator to hold their hand over the candle flame to feel the heat. Once they confirm it, you let them examine your hands. (You truly have nothing to hide.)

You pause for a moment, focus your thoughts, and slowly—at first a bit hesitantly—begin to hold your hand over the candle. After only a brief moment, it seems to no longer bother you to keep your outstretched hand above the flame. After some time, you remove your hand and show your audience that it is completely unharmed.

Now ask the spectator to focus their thoughts as well. They should imagine being able to control their feelings so completely that they will not sense the heat of the candle at all. For example, they might imagine a thick layer of ice forming over their hands. Once they are ready, you take their hand and hold it over the flame for a moment — they will truly feel nothing! However, you maintain full control over this phenomenon. With a snap of your fingers, the heat of the flame returns, causing the spectator to pull their hand away.

Blow out the candle. If you wish, you may even give it to the spectator as a souvenir.
