Show a brass nut, bolt and small padlock and allow them to be fully examined. A borrowed finger ring is placed on the bolt and secured there by the nut. A padlock is placed through a hole in the bolt, securing the ring on the assembly. The magician holds the bolt and his hands are covered with a cloth. On the count of three, he shows the ring has escaped from the nut and bolt and the padlock is still locked in place.
This is a very strong close up effect that can be performed almost immediately.
